Volunteer Role: O&O Presentation & AV Support

Orchids & Onions is San Diego Architectural Foundation's flagship event — and behind every award reveal, every laugh line from our emcee, and every video moment on screen, there's a slide deck doing a lot of quiet heavy lifting. We're looking for a detail-oriented, design-savvy volunteer to build and manage that deck for this year's show.

This is a project-based role with a clear deliverable and a firm deadline: a polished, presentation-ready file in the hands of our AV team on event day.

What you'll do:

• Update our existing O&O slide template with current year information — award categories, nominees, sponsors, and program details
• Incorporate the emcee's script into the Powerpoint speaker notes for each relevant slide, so presenters always know what's coming next
• Embed videos directly into the presentation file
• Combine slides, photos, and videos into one clean, final file ready to hand off to our AV team on site
• Meet with AV team on the day of the event for a trial run of the presentation
• Troubleshoot formatting or playback issues as they come up in the lead-up to the event and/or on the day-of trial run

You might be a great fit if you:

• Are comfortable working in PowerPoint beyond the basics — speaker notes, embedded video, and file troubleshooting are second nature to you
• Have an eye for layout and visual polish; graphic design skills are a big plus and a chance to take the deck to the next level
• Are organized and deadline-driven — this role has a hard due date tied to a live event
• Can take direction from our event team, and possibly emcee, while also bringing your own creative judgment
• Care about making SDAF's biggest night of the year look as good as it feels

Time commitment: Concentrated in the weeks leading up to Orchids & Onions, with the bulk of the work in the final 2–3 weeks before the event. Flexible, remote-friendly, with a final review and handoff close to event day.
